The next track on the list is the Daytona day track for the duels. Besided that the lights are off now I also added a few other things: - Pit entry and exit lights!
- Updated logos around the track (based on footage from the shootout)
- New victory lane
- Duels pitselection (a track.ini for both duels is included)
- The bump in turn 1 and 2 has changed, please give you opinion on our forums so I can make a decision for the 500
Also for this track you need the shared folder update!! Put those files in your shared folder! Credits: Pit entry/exit lights: By Ian-S (aka Smiffy) at V8Thunderonline.co.uk NR2003 League. Beta testing and providing feedback and ideas: Leo Graae David Smith Trucks in the Shared folder update: Bill Hawk Todd Logo around the track: Ian-S (smiffsden.com) Bill Hawk (for converting the to a .tga file so I can use it) David E Holak for the Daytona grass logo ENJOY!! |

The first of three Daytona track has now been released. The track has no day to night sky yet, because the whole race is in the dark anyway. And we'll save the best for last. You do need the shared folder update for this track to work!! It can be found in the track section. The track does have: - New garage area buildings
- New fanzone buildings
- New and animated scorepylons
- New and more lights all around the track
- Infield lights added
- Flags and speakerboxes added to the stands
- Revamped pitroad protocols
- New Daytona USA in turn 3-4
- New tents on the backstretch
- New asphalt textures
- New cautionlights
- Higher walls around the track
- And a lot more smaller updates
- 2009 logos (I guess where they would be an update might be released later)
The track has been tested in 70 clear weather so the ai might respond the best to those circumstances. Different ratings have been used to work within an area that works best for the biggest group of users possible, yet it still might need some tweaking to make it perfect for you. The track also has a race high.lp file and a racemin high.lp file. If you prefer an ai that prefers a higher line through the turns back up your original race.lp and racemin.lp file and rename those other files. The ai has not been tested for this line, because there wasn't enough time, so there might be some unforseen issues with these lines. Credits go to Todd and Bill Hawk for their great work on the shared folder update. David and Leo for beta testing and tuning the ai for all three series. And Ian for the logos around the track. Unfortunately the track doesn't have pit entry and exit lights yet. I hope to get those lights soon. Known issues: - The crowd at the main grandstand is still there during a testing session.
- The shading on the infield doesn't create shading in the car. (It is the same shading that will be used during 500, but then it will be animated and therefor has to be a 3do).
Show your feedback on our forums to make the next two tracks even better! ENJOY you Daytona experience!! |

The start of the 51st annual Daytona 500 is getting closer every day. And 26 days 'till the Daytona 500 means 25 days 'till the release of the new Daytona Revamped 500 edition. A lot has been done and still is or has to be done. Besides the 500 edition I will also release a Shootout edition one day before the shootout and a duel edition one day before the duels. The way you get different tracks the simulate different times of the day and it allows me to get the 500 edition exactly right. You also did a great job of helping me out. A number of you sent in or will send it textures or logo's which are a great help. Remember though that the deadline is February 1st, so I have a couple of days to collect everything and get everything ready for the first release. The releases will also have a very detailed README. It's called a read me and I strongly advise you to read it, specially if you have framerate issues. This track has so much detail that for some of you it might be a bit too much. Therefore I will include a folder with a number of 3do's in it which can be used to replace a few of the 3do's on the track to save you framerates without loosing the online compatability. You have to think of reducing the number of light poles around the track to eliminating the day to night transition. The track will also have a shading to simulate the late day shading over the frontstretch. The idea is that you turn this off by the time the night falls. But for those that don't like the shading or want to save FPS can turn it off without loosing anything else (like the shading that will appear when the night falls, which is made from 3do's). Anyway a lot to look forward to. In the meanwhile keep sending your stuff (see the forum for details)! |

I need 12 more hours....(9 hours sleep and a couple of hours to finish it..;)) for two reasons. I have some minor issues with the track and I'm hoping I'll get the lights from Ian overnight. So a little bit more patience and when you wake up tomorrow there will be a surprise waiting for you (if you live in the US that is). |

Everyday the track gets closer to completion. Within the next few days the track will be sent to betatesters so we can start working on the ai. However there is still a lot of work that needs to be done and you can help! There are a number of things that would be great to have, but compared to other stuff that needs to be done not really that important. So with other words because I'm too busy with that other stuff I won't have time for these things. Therefore I'm asking for your help. Examples of things I would like to see are .stp files, haulers (I know there aren't any pics of them, but as long as it could hypothetically be a hauler of a 2009 sprint cup team I'm happy), logo's, etc. A more detailed list can be found on the forum. |
